The DC's Antitheses and Reaction:
"1. We reject the view that confuses the distinction between the public ministry and the universal priesthood of all believers."
First, this statement could be made better because there is not one view "the view that confuses." Rather there are many different views which confuse the public ministry and the universal priesthood. Because many such views exist the antithesis should state:
"We reject any view which confuses the distinction between the public ministry and the universal priesthood of all believers."
One of the views that should be rejected because it does confuse this very distinction is the first thesis of the DC:
"The office of the keys has been committed to the entire Holy Christian Church and therefore to each Christian. Believers have the authority to exercise the keys individually and collectively-the universal priesthood of believers." (DC Thesis 1)
Even without the correction to the antithesis, the DC's own antithesis rejects the confusion made in their own Thesis 1.
